India has one of the highest investments in Uganda and has been among the top 5 FDI inflow countries for the last few years. It should further be noted that a number of Indians are Ugandan citizens and these are among the top investors in the country.Indian business, commercial and professional interests in Uganda are growing. The Economic relations between Uganda and India are strong, diversified and expanding annually. Uganda’s expanding economy offers opportunities in a variety of sectors.There are currently several hundred Indian companies active in Uganda generating economic growth, quality employment and technology transfer. Uganda is blessed with natural resources, including fertile soil and a strong agrarian base, deposits of minerals, and now even, petroleum that has been discovered.
Chaitali Das, Director at Rakshak Subidha Pvt Ltd. and a Social Entrepreneur presented opportunities of business and synergies at the 2nd Annual Investment and Business Conference – Uganda – India Business Conference, Kolkata on 15th February 2019 at Pride Plaza Hotel.
The presentation was made in the presence of Hon Irene Muloni, Minster of Energy and Minerals Development, Government of Uganda, Hon Amelia Kyambadde, Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Government of Uganda and other officials from the Country.
Ms. Das highlighted on the importance of women to come forth in the business sector and collaborate with other women to empower them economically and socially. She proposed to collaborate with the women of Uganda for a cross cultural exchange of handcraft and art.
She also proposed to collaborate with Uganda to work on alternatives to non- biodegradable products.
Women entrepreneurs from Uganda displayed their eco-friendly products to give a glimpse of their craft and culture.
