Global Mentoring Walk to highlight the importance of women’s leadership

 Rakshak Foundation in association with Vital Voices organised  a Global Mentoring Walk in Kolkata on 9th March, 2019. Global Mentoring Walk is an opportunity to highlight the importance of women’s leadership and to accelerate the impact of women leaders through mentoring. Commemorating the occasion of International Women’s Day, global women leaders from Vital Voices’ Global Leadership Network participated to walk in solidarity with women around the world in 174 walks across 62 countries, on this day.

Chaitali Das  as the Alumna of Fortune /US State Department Global Woman Mentoring Partnership Programme with Vital Voices, this year, had  the opportunity to be the flag bearer for Kolkata ChapterThe walk will be followed by a Panel Discussion on “Women leading Sustainability Development in the World” at an Open Garden in Alipore, Maintained by Rakshak Foundation with the assistance of the local Children of ‘New Horizon Literacy Centre’ with an aim to make a clean and green environment.

Botable personalities from all walks of life joined  the walk such as  Commissioner National Jute Board, Member Secretary Arvind Kumar National Jute Board, Mr. Jay B. Treloar, Assistant Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate, American Centre in Kolkata, Will Flag off ( likely to get the confirmation)  Ms. Maria Fernandez, West Bengal Commission for Women, Chairperson Minority Commission, Dr. Tehnaz Dastoor, Former Ambassador, Spokesperson UNICEF, Kolkata, Prof. Shabina N. Omar, Professor and Head of Dept of English in Milli Al Ameen College for girls affiliated to University of Calcutta & U. S. Exchange Alumni, Dr. Kakoli Sengupta, Associate Professor and former Head, Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University, Smt. Debolina Biswas, Local Councillor of Ward No 74, Mr. Basit Ismail, Principal, Jibreel International School, Kolkata and Founder, A Hand Organization & U. S. There was more than 200 participants consisting of students from colleges as mentees and eminent personalities, Academicians, Doctors, Artists and bureaucrats as mentors. Students recognized for captions, posters and placards.
