Amazon.in has announced the launch of Amazon Pantry in Kolkata that deals with 3500 everyday essentials. Currently, Amazon has pantry service in 29 cities, including Kolkata and will continue to expand in due course
Using Amazon Pantry customers in Kolkata can shop for over 3500 everyday essentials from over 250 brands of groceries and household products. Customers can build a basket and have all the products delivered in a single box at their doorsteps the following day. The new program makes it convenient for customers to stock-up for a basket of frequently purchased items while also increasing savings when compared to shopping at supermarkets.
Saurabh Srivastava, Director Category Management FMCG, Amazon India said, “We are working towards making e-commerce a daily habit for consumers and hence are very excited to launch Amazon Pantry in Kolkata. Amazon Pantry makes it convenient for customers to shop for grocery and household products as it saves time spent in travel, parking, queuing and lugging heavy bags from a store to the car and from there to a customer’s home. Kolkata is a metro with the usual lifestyle routine – busy! We are confident that as customers in Kolkata get familiar with the Pantry experience, they will be delighted by the ease, convenience and the fast delivery benefits that it offers to help ease their busy schedules.”
Amazon, which has registered a 165 per cent growth in its FMCG and consumables business last year hopes to maintain a similar growth momentum this year as well, and apart from increasing brand count on its portal and exclusive launches, it is also banking on the household and beauty product categories to drive sales.
West Bengal has witnessed remarkable growth in customer demand of consumable on Amazon.in. Kolkata is a key fast-growing market and online shoppers from the city have shopped on Amazon.in ever since it launched in the country 3+ years ago.
Other services by Amazon in the FMCG segment include Amazon Now (which is currently restricted to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi), ‘Super Value Day’ and ‘Subscribe and Save’.
