It is a rare privilege that Bengal Rose Society will be holding 35th All India Rose convention jointly with the Agri-Horticultural Society of India (AHSI), Kolkata coinciding with AHSI’s Winter Flower Show 2017 scheduled to be held from 5th to 8th January, 2017 at the Society’s premises.

Mr. S.B. Mookherjee, President of the 35th All India Rose Convention stated “Bengal Rose Society is happy to hold 35th Rose Convention & Rose show in Kolkata jointly with AHSI. Continuing he further stated that this convention will present best pot culture in Roses in the world grown both in soil and other materials like cinder / rice husk. He further stated that Seminar/workshop has been arranged to discuss some aspects having topical interest. He is confident that all delegates and visitors will gain in knowledge and experience from the 35th All India Rose Convention as valuable take away from the event.

Mr. Sumit Mazumdar, President of AHSI expressed that the Rose Convention will enrich Winter Flower Show 2017 and takes it to higher pedestal. Continuing he stated further that visitors will be finding it difficult to choose the best Chrysanthemum, Rose, Dahlia and other flowers in competition as hundreds of such pots will be displayed in the Winter Flower Show.

Not only Roses and Chrysanthemum but also some other selected followers like Dahlia, Marigold, perennial flowering plants will charm thousands of visitors and delegates from different states and countries.

The exhibition would be inaugurated by Shri Keshari Nath Tripathy,Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, at 3pm. on 5th January 2017.

On 6th January there will be a Seminar entitled “Current Status of Culture of Roses in India & its Commercial Prospect”.On 6th January prize distribution ceremony will be held for Roses where distinguished guests will remain present. On 7th January the third day of the AHSI Winter Flower Show there will be a special sit and draw completion is held where hundreds of students will be participating.On 8th January the Prize Distribution Ceremony will be held at Society lawn at 4.00 p.m. Distinguished Guests will remain present.So head for the AHSI premises at 1, Alipore Road to enjoy vast array of flowers and refresh yourself a wonderful winter ! The timings are 5th January 2017 – 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm, 6th, 7th & 8th January 2017 – 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.



What makes the Agri Horticultural Society’s this event is unique

·         35th All India Rose convention will be held at Kolkata while last 21st All India Rose Convention was held in 2005 in Kolkata.

·         The Horticulture garden is one of the biggest and oldest open gardens in Kolkata. It is an exclusive garden where a wide range of flowers would be showcased. In midst of nearly 200 years old garden.

A number of students will be participating in floral decoration / table decoration competition.The garden is generally not open for public viewing but in this special occasion the people of Kolkata would get a unique opportunity to witness the vibrant range of flowers and during these 4 days at the Horticulture garden would remain open for all the outsiders to witness the beauty of nature.
