Uber launches UberHIRE in Kolkata

Uber, the world’s largest on-demand ride sharing company, today announced the launch of UberHIRE in Kolkata. With UberHIRE, riders can book longer duration trips for day-long meetings, shopping or to simply explore and travel around cities. The launch of UberHIRE in Kolkata comes in time for Durga Puja and will enable riders to book an Uber for upto 8 hours as they go pandal hopping.

This service aims to address the unique commuting needs of riders in the city, especially that of tourists, business travellers, senior citizens, and working professionals by letting them book an Uber for longer durations. We are certain riders will immensely benefit from this service as they travel around Kolkata and visit their favourite pandals.”

 

UberHIRE service area:

In India, UberHIRE was first launched in Kochi and after a successful pilot run, UberHIRE went live in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Trivandrum. A hyper-local offering for the Indian-market, this innovation from Uber has emerged as great choice for riders commuting for tourism and business travel.

 

Now, UberHIRE will provide riders in Kolkata a chance to book longer rides at the tap of a button. Each UberHIRE booking can be for a maximum of 8 hours. UberHIRE trips can be booked from 6 AM to 9 PM. However, during the days of Durga Puja (25th Sep to 1st Oct) the product will be available 24X7.

 

 

How to book an UberHIRE:

  1. Open the Uber app.
  2. Swipe to the UberHIRE product view and request the ride.
  3. Riders will see the drivers details straight away – name, photo and the details of the car.
  4. Trips on the product are currently cash only  – pay your driver the minimum fare of INR 749 before starting the trip
  5. Enjoy your UberHIRE ride – pay the balance fare in cash at the end of the trip
