A press Conference was organised on 27th September at Press Club to announce the Protest Rally agenda by Bengal Chemist & Druggist Association (BCDA) .
At the dais were present Mr.Sankha Roy Chowdhury – President, BCDA; Mr .Subodh Kumar Ghosh – General Secretary, BCDA; Mr.Kamal Kumar Mukim- Ex General Secretary, AIOCD & BCDA; Mr.Debasis Guha-Organising Secretary, BCDA ; Mr.Sajal Gangopadhyay – Administrative Secretary and Mr.Irfan Lodhi , Treasurer BCDA..
All India Organisation of Chemist and Druggist (AIODC) – has called for an All India bandh on the 28th of this month.
Whereas Bengal Chemist & Druggist Association (BCD A ).is not going for the bandh , Instead they are organizing a PROTEST RALLY on 28th September. The PROTEST RALLY starts at 3pm from CIT road Ram Leela maidan to Subodh Mullick Square. Around 3000 people are expected to join , from the districts of N24 Pgn, S24Pgn, Howrah, Hooghly and Kolkata are expected to attend the same.
Similarly the other districts are also organizing the rallies, street corner meetings and submit the deputations to the respective departments in their own districts
Addressing at the Media at the Press Conference Mr. Kamal Kumar Mukim Ex- General Secretary, AIOCD & BCDA said “ Mainly we are opposing the proposed online system of medicine delivery because it will close down the retail shops of the locality throwing out of work the workers and their families. The medicines will lose their authenticity and no guarantee will be there of their cold chain system of insulin’s, tetanus toxoids etc. Youths will be getting the sleeping pills whenever they want to misuse it. Emergency medicines will be delayed if ordered online. To solve the shortage of pharmacists in West Bengal. Spurious medicine will not be controlled online.”
The other topics which BCDA highlighted were proposed introduction on E-Pharmacy by Central Government, Save health of needy patient, Control scarcity of medicine,STOP Irrational Competition, Secure livelihood of retailer and solve pharmacist Problem.
