Newspaper made handicrafts as a source of livelihood


Artemis Fountain Foundation is a pioneer organization run by World Bank certified professions. Over the period of time it  develops  some unique newspaper made handicrafts which now has become source of livelihood for 25 women, majorly trafficking victims now rescued and trying to come to mainstream.   ART CUBE  an annual showcasing of those artefacts  was held in Kolkata. A new item Potochitra on Newspaper was launched on the occasion. How news paper is helping to get livelihood to some needy families it is all about it. They have already produced products like Purse, flower vase ,Jewellery box, bags and so on. People can buy products online through

“The organization has tried many different simple livelihood projects for them like masala grinding papad making.. achar making… but every time they approached small scale hotels / restaurants  it was found they see the rescued victims as a taboo and especially when it comes to good ingredients… (no matter they speak big against this topic in common forums). Their acceptance of the handicrafts specially as corporate Gifting found a new dimension… a big thanks goes to Tata Group (specially Tata Communications) for the initial workshops and handholding which helped them reinstall self confidence within these 25 women.The products got appreciated in many forums in India and Abroad and we thank Mr Sushil Murarka for helping our product see the international light for a short time though.It  got patronization from Rotary Club and other elite forums including the Procurement Global Summit of a World Bank in New Delhi-  India Arpil 2016…We are further thankful to Taj Gateway who chose our products for display and sale in their lobby round  the year to support our cause.”said the spokesperson.
