Kolkata boys win Medallion of Excellence at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017

As the nation celebrated Diwali, Team India created history by winning One Silver (Mohit Dudeja), One Bronze (Kiran Sudhakar) and Nine Medallion of Excellence at the 44th WorldSkills competition, Abu Dhabi. This is India’s best performance since it started participating at these competitions in 2007. The Indian team was competing with candidates from 59 other WorldSkills member countries.

Kolkata candidates made the country proud by bringing Medallion of Excellence across their respective key skills. Rohim bagged Medallion of Excellence in Brick Laying and scored better than the competitors from France, UK, Denmark, Canada and USA. Asrof bagged Medallion of Excellence in Jewellery manufacturing and scored better than Japan, Portugal Sweden.

Rohim Momin, a 21 year old Mason hails from the West Bengal, India. In 2013, he started working for ATS, a well-known organisation in Delhi. In 2015, he represented ATS at the Regional Competition held in Delhi and was awarded with a Silver Medal for his excellence in bricklaying work. After IndiaSkills 2016 competition in July 2016, he has been training for WorldSkills. He is completely dedicated towards his goal of achieving a medal at Abu Dhabi.

Asrof Jamal comes from the state of West Bengal. He studied Jewellery manufacturing in Bangalore and got selected for the IndiaSkills competition in July 2016, where he stood second and in the subsequent regional rounds at Ganjam and Jaipur, he didn’t fail to impress with his skills.
