As a part of Bonjour India – incubating dreams, ideas and projects which aim to move the partnership between India and France into the future, Kolkata saw the inauguration of a brand new avatar of the iconic book store ‘Bingsha Shatabdi’ as one of the first Indo French literary destinations at Park Street .
The inauguration was done in the presence of The Consul General of France in Kolkata Mr. Damien Syed, Mr. Fabrice Plancon, Director of Alliance Francaise du Bengale and Mr. Nicolas Idier, Head of Books & Ideas, Institut français en Inde/ French Institute in India (IFI), himself a writer, along with celebrated French authors present in Kolkata during the ongoing Kolkata Literary Festival.
As a special project under Bonjour India, ‘Bingsha Shatabdi’ went through a complete design and inventory make over. It now houses a strong collection of Indian, French and French translated literature.
Speaking on the occasion, M. Fabrice Plancon, Director of Alliance Francaise du Bengale said, “The inauguration of the new form of Bingha ShatabdIt is a big Indo-French moment in the literary world. The collection of books here is rich and spans across French and Indian titles,including translated works of several books. I am happy to see this initiative take shape as part of Bonjour India here in Kolkata.’
