The curtain raiser of the 45th ISAAME Forum 2017:  Celebrating the Power of Serving Together, took place at ITC Sonar on Friday November 24 in the presence of District Governor Pramod Chandok and Chairpersons AP Singh and Sangeeta Jatia along with artist Alokananda Roy. Marking the 100 year anniversary of Lions Club International, the Isaame Forum 2017 which stands for India, South Asia, Africa and Middle East will take place from December 17 to 19 at ITC Sonar, Kolkata.


Talking about the event, Sangeeta Jatia said, “They key elements to be highlighted and discussed this year are spirituality & yoga, awareness for preventive diseases, youth empowerment for special and traumatized children, education and environment. This is a platform where global leaders, think tanks and spiritual influencers come together to debate, share ideas and provide solutions to build a stronger more positive future for the planet.”


The internationally renowned participants are Sri Sri Ravi Shankar,Honourable Sadhguru, Mary Kom, Sister Shivani, Abhinav Bindra, Shatrighan Sinha, Suhel Seth, Honourable Chanchalapati Dasa Prabhu, Honourable Ravinder Singh, LCIF Chairperson Bob Curlew, President Dr Naresh Aggarwal, First Vice President Gurdun Yngvodottir and Second Vice President Jung-Yul Choi.


At the curtain raiser, celebrity guest Alokananda Roy unveiled energy efficient cook stoves that will be distributed by Lions Club to more than 500 rural homes in West Bengal made by non-profit organization, Atmosfair. “This is indeed a great initiative. Lions Club has relentlessly worked towards social change and energy efficient cook stoves are a great way to protect the environment and people’s health. I wish them all the best for the Isaame Forum,” said Alokananda Roy.
