Sathya Sai Heart Hospital established in Rajkot by the devotees of Sri Sathya Sai Baba which has been conducting all types of open heart surgeries totally free or cost for the past 17 years, now proposes to organize a Free Heart Diagnosis and Heart Surgery Facilitation Camp, in West Bengal on July 23. 2017. The camp will be conducted with support front the Sri Sathya Sai Trust, West Bengal, and will be held front 9:00 ant to 2:00 pm. at Sri Sathya Sai Bal Villa, 7, 13alakit, M. G. Road, Kolkata 700 104.
Ten Cardiologists and Cardiac surgeons from the Heart Hospital at Rajkot are expected to attend the camp. All necessary equipment including ECG and ECHO equipment will be brought over to Kolkata from the hospital in Rajkot. The government of West Bengal has been informed about the camp and their permission has been sought to conduct the screening for identifying the patients who are in need of the procedure.
According to Sri Manoj Bhimani, Managing Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital in Rajkot, -There is a high incidence of heart ailments in India. Given the cost of treatment, there is a large number especially amongst the poorer sections of society who cannot afford the treatment. This leads to untimely deaths, significant numbers being sole bread owners. This has prompted our Trust to provide treatment to the poor and the indigent, which we have been doing for the past 17 years,”
The objective of the proposed camp is to screen heart patients (age below 60 years and monthly income below Rs. 20,000) for free heart surgery at Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital in Rajkot. Patients meeting the criteria will be registered at the camp and will be scheduled for surgery, totally free of cost, at the Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Rajkot at a future date.
To date more than 11 lakh patients have been examined in the OPH section and more than 11,000 Open Heart Procedures have been conducted in this hospital totally free of cost. A team of Cardiologists and Cardiac Surgeons from the hospital travel to different states with all equipment including for ECG and ECHO investigations to conduct screening camps and select eligible patients for treatment at the Hospital. Such camps have been conducted in a number of states, more recently in Maharashtra. Rajasthan and Delhi with approval from the state governments.
Mr Bhimani further said , “Plans were afoot to create more facilities. At present, at our Rajkot Hospital we have the infrastructural facilities to attend to the needs of nearly 700 patients at a time. However, looking at the growing numbers, we arc planning to set up another hospital which will immediately add another 300 to the existing numbers-.
The Sathya Sai Heart Hospital Trust has been investing liberally in technology and infrastructure to take care of acute ailments of the heart and offering this humongous service to the poorer sections of society. Through the various state organizations the Sathya Sai Central Trust has been creating awareness of the disease and the treatment offered in different states.
