Germany is a strategic partner for India within the EU and the two countries enjoy close, friendly and growing all-round relationship, both bilaterally and in the multilateral context. Within Germany, Bavaria is a major driving force for the fast growing trade and economic ties between India and Germany. Bavaria-based companies have traditionally considered India as a reliable and promising economic partner. Recently, VDMA along with the State of Bavaria India Office – Invest in Bavaria organized an Interactive Session on “Bavaria – The Destination for Opportunity in Europe” in Kolkata. Mr. Olaf Iversen, Consul General of Federal Republic of Germany was the Chief Guest at the event.The event deliberated on the trade and business opportunities offered by the State of Bavaria and to assist and provide the requisite support in doing business in Bavaria or identify suitable business partners from Bavaria to promote business in India.
Bavaria is one of the regions with the most development potential in Germany and Europe and is excellently placed precisely in those sectors where demand is on the increase, like mechanical and industrial engineering, chemical products, electronics and electrical engineering, motor vehicles, environmental technology and energy-efficient technologies. Mr. John Kottayil, Executive Director, State of Bavaria, Germany, India Office, said since the Indian automotive sector has emerged one of the fastest growing and most vibrant in recent years, Bavaria offers huge potential for effective tapping by Indian companies. Around 70 Indian companies have set up their offices in various cities of Bavaria. It is also home to a strong Indian community with more than 12,000 Indians living in Bavaria, and 70 Indian restaurants in Munich alone. Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA said “Indo-Bavarian relations are in excellent shape . The country’s assured connectivity with all the other nations also makes it a potential investment destination This meeting will give an opportunity the businessmen to know the development taken place in Bavaria, and the scope of establishing business co-operation, joint-ventures, technology import and/or making investment in Bavaria, Germany.”
