ASSOCHAM to initiate a host of activities in the field of Women Empowerment

Renowned Beauty Expert and a successful entrepreneur Mrs. Keya Seth has been newly appointed as the Chairperson of Assocham’s Women Council – Eastern India. With this appointment ASSOCHAM, the premier Industry Body of the country, has initiated a host of activities in the field of Women Empowerment and creating new opportunities in Eastern India under the leadership of Mrs. Keya Seth.

During her first interaction with media after being appointed the Chairperson, Keya Seth said, “I feel very privileged to have been entrusted as the chairperson. I bring a vast experience to the table with me which I am happy to share with the groups we look forward to work with to make a difference in whatever aspirations they have”

Keya Seth has already chartered the course of action in the coming months which will be undertaken by the Women’s Council:

Some of them are:

  • PINK AUTOS – People will see women from our society come forward and grab this opportunity to start women driven autos on the roads of Kolkata. This will be a game changer in the  local transport sector and give an alternative to women commuters. A training program will be rolled out and other stakeholders will be roped for this.
  • NEW WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS : Opportunities in Jewellery industry, specially junk jewellery to be provided to potential women entrepreneurs . Women Council will organize buyer-seller meets and organize events to promote this.
  • PROFESSIONAL COURSE FOR BEAUTICIANS: At present there is no structured course of training facilities in West Bengal. People have to go to other states and countries get certificate or diploma course. Most of the employees in beauty salons and parlours have no basis knowledge of skin care or hair treatment. The women council will propose a certificate/diploma course to the government of West Bengal to establish such training facilities.

Keya Seth also launched the portal – Twaksati created by Entrepreneur Ms. Ranjeeta Ghosh in presence of Co-Chairman of ASSOCHAM (Eastern Region Council) – Mr. S N Nundy. Twaksati brings forward the saga of exquisite and amazing art and crafts of India. The categories of products include handmade silver jewelleries , crafts and paintings, home decors, Apparels, Cards and stationeries.
