Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals’ free monthly check-up camp for expecting mothers and their unborn child

Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata, is the leader in the provision of cutting-edge
healthcare services in entire Eastern India. As a socially conscious entity, the hospital has undertaken a major initiative for organizing free monthly health check-up camps dedicated towards ensuring the health of expecting mothers and their unborn child. The first of such camps was held in Kolkata at the Matri Mangal Pratisthan and saw a significant turnout. The second camp in the series was organized at the ESI Hospital, Manicktala  and was attended by about 108 expecting women.
The origins of the noble enterprise can be traced to the recent appeal by the Prime Minister of India, calling upon the doctors of the country to treat poor pregnant women for free on the 9 th of every month. In response, Dr Prathap C  Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group, India, had announced, “The Honourable Prime Minister made a clarion call to the medical fraternity and as a responsible healthcare provider, Apollo Hospitals will conduct camps on the 9thof every month with guidance from the State Governments. Personally, I will participate in this national service endeavour and will also urge all my clinicians to devote a day each month for this laudable programme, which translates to over a million man hours of clinical talent a year. This initiative, I believe, will soon transform the healthcare status of India.” Apollo Gleneagles’ announcement comes close on the heels of the announcement.
Dr Rupali Basu, President and CEO ER, Apollo Hospitals Group, India, observed, “Our Chairman has voiced the  core views and beliefs of the entire Apollo family. Under his able leadership, we shall continue to expand the ambit of this noble initiative to cover the entire eastern part of the country within its scope. The success of the second free monthly check-up camp is a reaffirmation of our commitment towards ensuring the future health and well-being of the region, and underscores the widespread appreciation and support for the Apollo philosophy among the broader masses.
