India’s much anticipated brand evaluation report on Attractiveness, India’s Most Attractive Brands 2016, has been released. 42 brands based out of Kolkata featured in the 1000 Most Attractive Brand list. Leading brands like ITC and Emami are nationally ranked at 123 and 301 respectively along with a number of individual brands like Aashirvaad Atta (All India rank 81), Sunfeast (All India rank 248), Yippie Noodles (All India rank 492) and Fair and Handsome (All India rank 558) which feature in Super-Categories F&B and FMCG respectively. TRA Research, a Comniscient Group company, has listed the brands that have elicited the deep desire-based attraction in their audience.
LG has taken the national crown of India’s Most Attractive Brand in this 2016 study. The South Korea-based Consumer Electronics giant has taken the 1st rank, moving up from 2nd place last year. Sony ranks 2nd, followed by the two-time reigning champion from the two previous reports, Samsung Mobiles ranking 3rd. Honda makes an entrance at the 4th position. Samsung, in the Durables category leaped from rank 87 in 2015 to rank 5 this time round. The highest placed wholly-Indian conglomerate in this year’s listings, Bajaj, is India’s 6th Most Attractive brand.
The second Indian brand in the list, Tata, ranked 7th which has slipped three places since last year. Maruti Suzuki comes in at rank 8. Airtel shoots up 9 ranks from ranking 18th last year, followed by Nokia, which stands at the 10th position. Godrej (All India rank 13), Dell (All India rank 15) and Hewlett Packard (All India rank 17) made an exit from the top 10 Most Attractive Brands listings this year.

Chandramouli, CEO, TRA Research, said on the occasion of the report’s launch, “Companies based out of West Bengal have created their niche place in the field of ‘Attractiveness’, a factor that depends on the socio-psycho-cultural influences of deep-rooted desires. A few home-grown products like Ajanta Footwear, a regular name in Bengali households, have made surprise entries and it is nationally ranked 204th alongside Khadim ranked at 237th and Sreeleathers at 383th in the footwear segment. The most significant direct entry we can say for ‘Joy Cosmetics (All-India rank 567), Soumi’s Can Grow (All-India rank 922) and Bapi Chanachur (All-India rank 703) in this year’s list.
Another remarkable trend was noticed for last 3 years that the brand recognition of Hosiery Innerwear Industry is dominant from the East with Rupa (All-India rank 232) Lux Cozi (All-India rank 363) Dollar (All-India rank 460).’’
